Construction union, Assembly of First Nations sign pact to promote Indigenous workforce

Recommended reading from The Globe and Mail: Canada’s national Assembly of First Nations has signed a pact with the country’s largest construction union to promote expansion of the Indigenous workforce. The union represents 8,000 members from BC, and is focusing on finding ways to help larger numbers of Indigenous youth enter BC’s trades sector. The union has promised to seek new collective agreements giving Indigenous workers a greater percentage of the jobs in major construction projects, therefore improving standards of living while providing employment strategies and sustainable economic development across BC.
