Forest sector losing jobs – but desperately needs more skilled workers

From CBC News: Despite the softwood lumber dispute, some forestry companies in BC are declaring record profits, and are currently experiencing a shortage of skilled workers, resulting in unfilled technical jobs. Over 20,000 new jobs have been projected within the industry as new workers and technologists are required to fill job vacancies created by retiring workers or mills using automation. Although jobs are being lost in certain sectors, transitions within the industry have caused forest technologists to be in high demand throughout BC.
