Why Canada may have missed the boat on building a viable LNG industry

Recommended reading from the National Post: BC’s government promised progress for an LNG industry that was expected to rival other resource developments within the country. However, stagnant action has caused loss of economic opportunity for BC and the country, as Canada’s reputation for global resource investment has been further damaged forcing producers of gas in the west to sell for less to already saturated traditional markets. In BC, only one LNG project, Woodfibre LNG, is being launched, while formidable LNG industries soldier on in the US. Through open dialogue, stringent environmental regulations, support from all levels of government, and partnering with First Nations, projects like Woodfibre LNG can give hope in strengthening BC’s economy.
